Objective: To teach and help support underprivileged, Tanzanian youth by upholding their basic human rights, giving them opportunities and helping them to fulfill their lifes’ potential. Summary: (Find out facts. The percentage of children in Tanzania that do not attend Primary and/or Secondary school. The amount of street kids. The amount of youth using drugs, prostitution, etc.) Our project is an outreach Art Centre for the youth of Bagamoyo, Tanzania. This center teachs up to 20 kids, from ages 8 to 21 years old. We care for their basic needs, health, nutrition, education, and the love and attention by maintaining a ratio of one teacher for five kids at all times. Care focuses on a close-knit family atmosphere. Our priority is to help open the doors to a successful and self sustainable future. The School: The African Modern Art Park and Training Center for Street Children, will consists of two parts; a US registered charity which will work on fundraising while the Tanzanian NGO will run the home and concentrate on teaching and caring for the children. The US NGO (EAAF) arm will give regular grants to the Tanzanian arm. Fundraising will take two main forms; we shall seek grants and one of donations to cover our start-up and expansion costs; and we shall find private sponsors to cover our running costs. The Directors will pay for all administration costs personally. Any expansion will be slow and carefully considered so as not to jeopardize the quality of care and education – in fact not expanding is also a good option for us. Reports and newsletters will be complied for donors and the general public at regular intervals and the Website will be kept active and current. Many of our operating risks can be minimized through good communications with the social welfare department, with the families of those learning at our center and with other related NGOs. In Tanzania, our first course of action is to prepare our center for the kids that will be learning there, to ensure it is equipped to a good standard. Will we then recruit staff and focus on their training. Meanwhile, in Canada we shall be applying for grants to various agencies, registering with the Charities commission and building our website to a good standard. We will also be recruiting volunteers, preferably with an art background, to come out to Tanzania to help share new ideas with our staff and even teach the children. |
