AMAP! A Pioneer Art School PDF Print E-mail

The objective of this project is to provide a new schoolhouse for the students of the village of Bagamoyo, Tanzania. The existing school consists of few small classrooms made of sticks and leaves. Adjacent to the classrooms there is a small art workshop where the students practice their art skills.

The project is run under the supervision of local talented artist; Said Mubungu. The school offers a year long, life-related, hands-on educational experience for those who attend. The school teaching program provides the graduating students with a skill set that they can utilize in pursuing a job and earn an income within the immediate area or throughout the East Africa region.

To sustain its life line the art center is in desperate need of the following:

  1. Art supplies that will be used throughout the educational process, this is to include, but not limited to, the following: water colors, pencils, crayons, oil color paint, oil brushes, drawing paper, carving tools, etc.
  2. Funds for running expenses to sustain the project and the school’s building utilities expenses. This includes the cost for rent, electricity, water, and raw material expenses.
  3. A stipend for educators, local volunteers, and meal costs for students.
